Description
A simple, nostalgic, buttery-crunchy 3 Ingredient Toffee topped with smooth melted chocolate, perfect for gifting or snacking.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup semi sweet or milk chocolate chips
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper so the toffee will be easy to remove once cooled.
- Melt the butter in a heavy bottomed saucepan over medium heat, stirring gently.
- Stir in the sugar and continue mixing until fully combined and smooth.
- Cook the mixture, stirring often, until it reaches a deep amber color or about 290°F which is the hard crack stage.
- Immediately pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and allow it to spread evenly.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee and let them soften for a few minutes, then spread into a smooth layer.
- Let the toffee cool completely at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours.
- Break the fully cooled toffee into pieces and serve or store.
Notes
- Use a heavy bottomed pot to prevent burning.
- Do not leave the sugar mixture unattended because it cooks fast.
- Add nuts or sea salt on top of the melted chocolate for extra flavor.
