Description

Ingredients

  • 4 large firm apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup water or apple juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, nuts, vanilla, and salt.
  3. Pour water or juice into the bottom of the baking dish.
  4. Core apples, leaving the base intact, and stuff with the filling.
  5. Place apples upright in the dish and drizzle with melted butter.
  6. Bake for 35–40 minutes until tender and bubbly.
  7. Spoon juices over apples and cool slightly before serving.
