Ingredients
Scale
- 14 ounces extra firm tofu, pressed and cubed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
- In a small bowl, mix the barbecue sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper until smooth.
- Add olive oil to the skillet and swirl to coat the surface.
- Place the pressed and cubed tofu in a single layer in the skillet, leaving space between pieces.
- Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, turning occasionally, until all sides are golden brown.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the tofu and cook for another 5 to 7 minutes, stirring gently, until the sauce thickens and coats each piece.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- Press the tofu for at least 15 to 20 minutes for the best texture.
- Do not overcrowd the pan to allow proper browning.
- If the sauce thickens too quickly, add a small splash of water to loosen it.
- For extra heat, add a pinch of chili flakes to the sauce mixture.
