Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ½ cups (420 grams) all purpose flour
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup (180 ml) warm milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 large egg (for egg wash)
- ½ cup (115 grams) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, active dry yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, eggs, and softened butter. Knead for 8 to 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Transfer dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1 ½ hours until doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal portions, shape into smooth balls, and place on the prepared baking sheet. Cover and let rise again for 30 to 45 minutes.
- Brush tops with beaten egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using.
- Bake for 15 to 18 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly on a wire rack before slicing and filling with your favorite leftovers.
Notes
- Ensure milk is warm, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.
- For accurate results, measure flour using a kitchen scale.
- Buns can be frozen once cooled and reheated gently before serving.
