  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x
  • Diet: Low Lactose

Description

Flaky, golden pastry wrapped around a savory, well seasoned sausage filling, baked until crisp outside and juicy inside. A comforting classic that works for snacks, meals, or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (about 250 g)
  • 450 g pork sausage meat
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 50 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sausage meat, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, salt, black pepper, and half of the beaten egg until just mixed.
  3. Lay the puff pastry sheet out on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Shape the filling into a long log and place it along one edge of the pastry.
  5. Roll the pastry tightly around the filling and seal the edge.
  6. Cut into even pieces and arrange them on the prepared baking tray.
  7. Brush the tops with the remaining beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Keep the puff pastry cold until ready to use for best results.
  • Do not overfill the rolls to avoid splitting during baking.
  • These reheat best in the oven rather than the microwave.
