Ingredients
Scale
- 12 ounces wide egg noodles
- 1 medium head green cabbage, about 2 pounds, thinly sliced
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of generously salted water to a rolling boil over medium high heat.
- Add the egg noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain well and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat until melted and gently bubbling.
- Add the sliced onion and cook for about 5 minutes until softened and lightly golden.
- Stir in the sliced cabbage and salt. Cook for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and lightly caramelized.
- Add the drained noodles and black pepper to the skillet. Toss gently until evenly combined and heated through.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
- Slice the cabbage thinly for even cooking and better texture.
- Allow the cabbage to cook slowly for deeper caramelized flavor.
- Reheat leftovers gently in a skillet with a small splash of water or butter to restore moisture.
