Description

Ingredients

  • 3 large ripe tomatoes, sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • 12 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • 1/2 cup whole fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Let the mozzarella sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before assembling.
  2. Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella evenly, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Arrange a large serving platter on your counter.
  4. Alternate slices of tomato and mozzarella on the platter, slightly overlapping. Tuck whole basil leaves between the layers.
  5. Allow the assembled salad to sit for 5 minutes so flavors meld together.
  6. Drizzle extra virgin olive oil evenly over the top. Add balsamic glaze if using.
  7. Sprinkle with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Serve immediately.
