- 3 large ripe tomatoes, sliced 1/4 inch thick
- 12 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced 1/4 inch thick
- 1/2 cup whole fresh basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Let the mozzarella sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before assembling.
- Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella evenly, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Arrange a large serving platter on your counter.
- Alternate slices of tomato and mozzarella on the platter, slightly overlapping. Tuck whole basil leaves between the layers.
- Allow the assembled salad to sit for 5 minutes so flavors meld together.
- Drizzle extra virgin olive oil evenly over the top. Add balsamic glaze if using.
- Sprinkle with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Serve immediately.
