Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
- ¾ cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese (cut into small cubes)
- 4 tablespoons butter (melted)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon parsley (chopped)
- 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix and knead until the dough is soft and smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and cut into strips. Place a cube of cheese in each and tie into a knot, sealing the ends.
- Arrange the knots on a baking sheet, cover, and rest for 15 minutes.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
- While baking, melt butter in a pan with minced garlic. Brush the warm knots with garlic butter and sprinkle parsley and parmesan on top.
- Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Seal the knots tightly to prevent cheese from leaking out.
- Use fresh garlic for the best flavor.
- Brush knots while still warm so they absorb the butter.
- Freeze extra dough for future batches.
