Description

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk until just warm to the touch, then mix with yeast and a teaspoon of the sugar. Let sit until foamy.
  2. Add eggs, melted butter, remaining sugar, salt, and flour. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth, then place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled.
  4. Roll the dough into a rectangle, spread with butter, and sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Roll tightly, slice into even rolls, and place in a greased baking dish.
  6. Bake at 350°F until golden and cooked through.
  7. Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and butter until smooth, then spread over warm rolls.

Notes

  • Let the rolls cool slightly before icing for a thicker topping.
  • For extra softness, cover the rolls loosely while cooling.
