- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup whole milk, warmed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Warm the milk until just warm to the touch, then mix with yeast and a teaspoon of the sugar. Let sit until foamy.
- Add eggs, melted butter, remaining sugar, salt, and flour. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough until smooth, then place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle, spread with butter, and sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll tightly, slice into even rolls, and place in a greased baking dish.
- Bake at 350°F until golden and cooked through.
- Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and butter until smooth, then spread over warm rolls.
Notes
- Let the rolls cool slightly before icing for a thicker topping.
- For extra softness, cover the rolls loosely while cooling.
