Description

Juicy, herb-seasoned Greek biftekia paired with golden crispy fries for the ultimate Mediterranean comfort meal. Simple, satisfying, and full of flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into fries
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes. Drain and pat dry.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, grated onion, garlic, parsley, oregano, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  3. Form the mixture into oval patties and set aside.
  4. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Fry the patties for 4 to 5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove and keep warm.
  5. In a separate pan or fryer, heat oil and fry the potatoes in batches until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.
  6. Serve biftekia with fries and lemon wedges on the side. Optional: add tzatziki or salad.

Notes

  • Let patties rest in the fridge for 15 minutes before cooking to help them hold their shape.
  • Use russet potatoes for best frying results.
  • Grated onion adds moisture and flavor to the meat.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture.
