- 1 9-inch pie crust
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Pinch of nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place a baking sheet on the middle rack.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until well combined.
- Press the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish, prick the bottom with a fork, and blind bake for 10 minutes. Let cool slightly.
- Sauté the sliced onion until golden and soft.
- Spread the onions and shredded cheese evenly in the crust. Pour the egg mixture on top.
- Bake on the preheated baking sheet for 35–40 minutes or until the center is set and top is lightly golden.
- Let rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
