  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup water or beef broth
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheddar cheese, chopped onions, diced jalapeños

Instructions

  1. Set your crockpot to low and heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Brown the ground beef with onions and garlic until fully cooked, then drain excess fat.
  3. Transfer the beef mixture to the crockpot.
  4. Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, paprika, cumin, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and broth. Stir to combine.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed before serving.
  7. Ladle over hot dogs and top with cheese, onions, or jalapeños.
