- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup water or beef broth
- Optional toppings: shredded cheddar cheese, chopped onions, diced jalapeños
Instructions
- Set your crockpot to low and heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Brown the ground beef with onions and garlic until fully cooked, then drain excess fat.
- Transfer the beef mixture to the crockpot.
- Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, paprika, cumin, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and broth. Stir to combine.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed before serving.
- Ladle over hot dogs and top with cheese, onions, or jalapeños.
Notes
- Brown the beef first for deeper flavor.
- For thicker chili, uncover during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
- Add hot sauce or diced jalapeños for extra spice.
