- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1½ teaspoons baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 200 g dark chocolate (for ganache)
- 1 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 8-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
- In another bowl, combine eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix wet and dry ingredients together.
- Gradually add boiling water and stir until smooth.
- Divide the batter into pans and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool cakes completely on a rack.
- For the ganache, heat heavy cream until just simmering, pour over chopped dark chocolate, rest for 2 minutes, and stir until glossy.
- Spread ganache over cooled cakes, layer, and serve.
