Description
A cozy, no-fuss beer bread made with just five ingredients. This crusty, golden loaf is perfect with soups, stews, or simply warm with butter.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 12 ounces beer (room temperature)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×5 loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Pour in the beer and gently stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Drizzle 2 tablespoons melted butter over the top of the batter.
- Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack. Brush with more melted butter if desired.
- Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Use a flavorful beer like a lager or ale for best taste.
- Don’t overmix the batter to keep the bread tender.
- Optional mix-ins include shredded cheese, herbs, or garlic powder.
- This bread freezes well—wrap tightly and store for up to 2 months.
