Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (lean)
- 3 cups broccoli florets (fresh)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger (grated)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water or beef broth
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and water or broth. In another bowl, make a slurry by mixing cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart, until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add minced garlic and ginger to the beef and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the sauce mixture and bring to a simmer.
- Steam broccoli separately until crisp-tender, then add to the skillet. Stir to coat with the sauce.
- Add the cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce thickens.
- Drizzle with sesame oil, adjust seasoning, and serve hot over rice or noodles.
Notes
- Use tamari for a gluten-free version.
- Double the sauce for a saucier dish.
- To keep broccoli vibrant, steam it only until bright green.
