Description

Tender white fish gently simmered in a rich tomato sauce with onion, garlic, and warm spices. This comforting dish is simple, flavorful, and perfect for an easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 white fish fillets, about 150 grams each (such as cod or haddock)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 400 grams canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat for about 1 minute.
  2. Add olive oil and sliced onion. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Stir well and let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Nestle the fish fillets into the sauce in a single layer and spoon sauce over each fillet.
  6. Cover and simmer gently for 10 to 12 minutes until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the top before serving.
  8. Serve hot with extra sauce spooned over each portion.

Notes

  • Taste and adjust seasoning before adding the fish for balanced flavor.
  • If the sauce becomes too thick, add 2 tablespoons of water to loosen slightly.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat gently over low heat to keep the fish tender.
