Description
Gooey Butter Cream Cheese Cake Mix Bars are decadently rich, soft, and perfectly sweet! These easy-to-make dessert bars start with a yellow cake mix crust and are topped with a luscious, buttery cream cheese filling that bakes into gooey, irresistible layers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 3 3/4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg. Mix until a thick dough forms. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust.
- In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the remaining 2 eggs, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar. Mix until fully combined and smooth.
- Pour the cream cheese mixture over the crust and spread it evenly with a spatula.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the center is still slightly jiggly. Do not overbake—it’s supposed to be gooey!
- Let the bars cool completely in the pan, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour before slicing.
- Dust with extra powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
Notes
- Chilling helps the bars set and makes them easier to cut into neat squares.
- Try using different cake mix flavors like lemon or chocolate for fun variations.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 5 days.
