Ingredients
Scale
- 2 puff pastry sheets, thawed
- 1 cup cooked ham, diced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 egg, beaten
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, combine diced ham and shredded cheddar. Season with a bit of pepper if desired.
- Unroll puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut each sheet into four equal squares.
- If using, spread a thin layer of mustard on half of the squares. Add a spoonful of ham and cheese mixture to each.
- Top with the remaining squares. Use a fork to seal the edges tightly.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg and cut a small slit in each to allow steam to escape.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes or until golden and puffed. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Keep puff pastry cold before using to ensure it puffs properly.
- Add fresh herbs or swap cheeses for your own spin.
- Leftovers can be reheated in an oven or air fryer for best texture.
