Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease six small ramekins.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix eggs, whole milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter until smooth.
  4. Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until a smooth batter forms.
  5. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the granulated sugar until it turns golden and smooth.
  6. Carefully pour the caramel evenly into the bottom of each prepared ramekin.
  7. Spoon the batter gently over the caramel, filling each ramekin about three quarters full.
  8. Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes until the cakes are set.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
  10. Run a knife around the edges, invert onto plates, and serve warm.
