- 1 pound ground beef
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 2–3 cups cooked white rice
- 2–3 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1 cup steamed broccoli (optional)
Instructions
- Warm a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
- Add ground beef to skillet and cook, breaking it up until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Pour in sauce mixture and stir to combine. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in green onions.
- Serve beef over hot rice, topped with sesame seeds and steamed broccoli if using.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef to avoid excess grease.
- Double the recipe and freeze half for an easy future meal.
- Add a fried egg on top for extra richness.
