Instructions

  1. Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease if needed.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Drop small spoonfuls of chocolate hazelnut spread onto a parchment lined tray and freeze for at least 30 minutes until firm.
  6. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of batter onto the skillet. Place one frozen chocolate disk in the center and cover with another tablespoon of batter, ensuring it is fully covered.
  7. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until bubbles form on the surface. Flip carefully and cook another 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Let rest briefly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
