  • 2 cups plant-based milk (almond, oat, or soy)

  • 1 cinnamon stick (or 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon)
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Place your saucepan over medium-low heat.
  2. Add cocoa powder, maple syrup, and a splash of milk. Whisk into a paste.
  3. Slowly pour in the rest of the milk while whisking.
  4. Add cinnamon stick, orange zest, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt.
  5. Let the mixture warm slowly, stirring often for 5 to 7 minutes. Do not boil.
  6. Remove from heat, discard cinnamon stick if used, and adjust sweetness if needed.
