Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (15 ounces) pumpkin purée
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup apple juice or cider
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- Pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine pumpkin purée, brown sugar, apple juice, maple syrup, spices, salt, and vanilla extract.
- Stir the mixture well and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Reduce heat to low and cook uncovered, stirring often, for 20–25 minutes or until thickened to a smooth, spreadable consistency.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool completely before transferring to an airtight container.
- Refrigerate and enjoy chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
- Use canned pumpkin purée, not pumpkin pie filling, for best results.
- Taste and adjust spices or sweetness to your preference.
- Let it cool fully before storing to avoid condensation inside the jar.
- Delicious swirled into yogurt or served on warm bread.
