Description

This Spiced Cranberry Sauce is a cozy, citrusy twist on the classic holiday side, infused with cinnamon, cloves, and orange zest for a bold, flavorful finish.


Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 star anise (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Add cranberries, sugar, orange juice, water, orange zest, cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise (if using) to a medium saucepan.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally.
  3. Simmer for 10–12 minutes until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and discard the cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise.
  5. Allow to cool completely before serving or refrigerating.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness to your taste by adding more or less sugar.
  • Let the sauce chill for an hour to thicken fully.
  • For a smoother sauce, mash cranberries while cooking.
  • Store in the fridge up to 7 days or freeze for 2 months.
