Description

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/4 cup strawberry jam
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet slightly to smooth it.
  3. Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out an even number of pastry hearts.
  4. Place half of the hearts on the prepared baking sheet. Spread about 1 teaspoon of strawberry jam in the center of each, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Lightly brush the edges with egg wash. Place the remaining hearts on top and press edges with a fork to seal.
  6. Brush the tops with egg wash and cut a small slit in the center for steam to escape.
  7. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar. Garnish with fresh strawberries if desired and serve warm.
