Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high and lightly oil the surface.
- In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, soy sauce, apple juice, garlic, onion powder, molasses, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Pat chicken breasts dry and brush lightly with olive oil.
- Once the glaze thickens slightly, remove 1/4 cup for basting and keep the rest warm.
- Grill chicken for about 6 minutes per side, brushing with glaze during the last 2 minutes of each side.
- Mix cornstarch and water, add to the remaining glaze, and simmer for another minute until glossy.
- Serve chicken topped with extra glaze and garnish with chopped green onions.
Notes
- Marinate chicken in soy sauce and garlic for 30 minutes before grilling for deeper flavor.
- Use tamari for a gluten-free version.
- Reheat leftovers in a skillet over medium heat to keep the glaze shiny and smooth.
