Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup warm water
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus more for coating)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- Grated parmesan (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Stir and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Divide dough into 12 pieces. Roll each into a rope and tie into knots. Arrange on baking sheet.
- Bake for 18–20 minutes until golden brown.
- While baking, melt butter in a saucepan and stir in minced garlic. Cook until fragrant (about 1 minute).
- Brush hot knots with garlic butter and sprinkle with parsley and parmesan if desired.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use roasted garlic instead of raw.
- Let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free area for best results.
- Brush knots again with garlic butter before serving for extra shine.
