Description

Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus more for coating)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Grated parmesan (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Stir and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Divide dough into 12 pieces. Roll each into a rope and tie into knots. Arrange on baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 18–20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. While baking, melt butter in a saucepan and stir in minced garlic. Cook until fragrant (about 1 minute).
  8. Brush hot knots with garlic butter and sprinkle with parsley and parmesan if desired.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!

  • For a richer flavor, use roasted garlic instead of raw.
