Description

A comforting, oven-baked classic made with tender pasta layers, rich meat sauce, creamy béchamel, and melted cheese that comes together into a hearty and satisfying family-style meal.


Ingredients

  • Lasagna noodles, 12 sheets
  • Ground beef, 500 g
  • Olive oil, 2 tablespoons
  • Onion, 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic cloves, 3 cloves, minced
  • Crushed tomatoes, 800 g
  • Tomato paste, 2 tablespoons
  • Salt, 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper, 0.5 teaspoon
  • Dried oregano, 1 teaspoon
  • Butter, 60 g
  • All-purpose flour, 60 g
  • Milk, 750 ml
  • Nutmeg, 0.25 teaspoon
  • Mozzarella cheese, 300 g, shredded
  • Parmesan cheese, 100 g, grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet, add onion and garlic, cook until soft, then add ground beef and cook until browned.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, black pepper, and dried oregano, then simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. In a saucepan, melt butter, whisk in flour, and gradually add milk while whisking until smooth and thickened. Season with nutmeg.
  5. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the baking dish, add lasagna noodles, béchamel, and cheeses. Repeat layers until finished.
  6. Cover and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for 15 minutes until golden and bubbling.
  7. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
