Ingredients
- Lasagna noodles, 12 sheets
- Ground beef, 500 g
- Olive oil, 2 tablespoons
- Onion, 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic cloves, 3 cloves, minced
- Crushed tomatoes, 800 g
- Tomato paste, 2 tablespoons
- Salt, 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper, 0.5 teaspoon
- Dried oregano, 1 teaspoon
- Butter, 60 g
- All-purpose flour, 60 g
- Milk, 750 ml
- Nutmeg, 0.25 teaspoon
- Mozzarella cheese, 300 g, shredded
- Parmesan cheese, 100 g, grated
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C and lightly grease a baking dish.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet, add onion and garlic, cook until soft, then add ground beef and cook until browned.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, black pepper, and dried oregano, then simmer for 15 minutes.
- In a saucepan, melt butter, whisk in flour, and gradually add milk while whisking until smooth and thickened. Season with nutmeg.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the baking dish, add lasagna noodles, béchamel, and cheeses. Repeat layers until finished.
- Cover and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for 15 minutes until golden and bubbling.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

- Letting the dish rest helps the layers set properly.
- Freshly grated cheese melts more smoothly.
- The flavors develop even more after resting overnight.
