  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Low Calorie

Description

A creamy and fresh tuna open-faced sandwich made with flaky tuna, smooth cream cheese, bright herbs, and a touch of lemon, all spread generously over rustic bread. Perfect for a quick lunch, light dinner, or relaxed brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans tuna in water (5 ounces each), drained well
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 4 thick slices rustic bread

Instructions

  1. If desired, lightly toast the bread slices in a toaster or oven until slightly crisp but still tender inside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, flake the drained tuna with a fork until evenly separated.
  3. Add softened cream cheese, chopped parsley, chives, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper to the bowl.
  4. Mix thoroughly until smooth and well combined, keeping some light texture from the tuna flakes.
  5. Arrange the bread slices on a clean surface or serving plate.
  6. Spoon the tuna mixture generously over each slice and spread evenly from edge to edge.
  7. If preferred, place under gentle heat for 3 to 5 minutes to warm slightly without drying out the topping.
  8. Sprinkle extra fresh herbs on top if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Drain the tuna very well to avoid a watery mixture.
  • Let the cream cheese come to room temperature before mixing for a smoother texture.
  • Taste and adjust lemon juice or salt before assembling.
  • For extra crunch, lightly toast the bread before adding the topping.
