Description
A creamy and fresh tuna open-faced sandwich made with flaky tuna, smooth cream cheese, bright herbs, and a touch of lemon, all spread generously over rustic bread. Perfect for a quick lunch, light dinner, or relaxed brunch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cans tuna in water (5 ounces each), drained well
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
- 4 thick slices rustic bread
Instructions
- If desired, lightly toast the bread slices in a toaster or oven until slightly crisp but still tender inside.
- In a mixing bowl, flake the drained tuna with a fork until evenly separated.
- Add softened cream cheese, chopped parsley, chives, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper to the bowl.
- Mix thoroughly until smooth and well combined, keeping some light texture from the tuna flakes.
- Arrange the bread slices on a clean surface or serving plate.
- Spoon the tuna mixture generously over each slice and spread evenly from edge to edge.
- If preferred, place under gentle heat for 3 to 5 minutes to warm slightly without drying out the topping.
- Sprinkle extra fresh herbs on top if desired and serve immediately.
Notes
- Drain the tuna very well to avoid a watery mixture.
- Let the cream cheese come to room temperature before mixing for a smoother texture.
- Taste and adjust lemon juice or salt before assembling.
- For extra crunch, lightly toast the bread before adding the topping.
