- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened for frosting
- 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract for frosting
- 2 to 3 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and prepare two 8 inch cake pans.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, mixing until just combined.
- Divide batter and bake 25 to 30 minutes.
- Cool completely before frosting.
- Beat frosting ingredients until smooth and spread over cake layers.
