- 2 large bunches collard greens, stems removed and chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Wash collard greens thoroughly, remove thick stems, and chop into strips.
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened.
- Add minced garlic and cook briefly.
- Add chopped collard greens in batches, stirring until slightly wilted.
- Pour in chicken broth, then add salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 45 to 60 minutes until tender.
- Stir in apple cider vinegar before serving.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
Notes
- Wash greens well to remove grit.
- Simmer gently for tender texture.
- Add vinegar at the end for brightness.
