Description

Traditional Italian struffoli made of tiny fried dough balls coated in honey and decorated with sprinkles.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • Pinch of salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup honey
  • Colorful sprinkles
  • Candied orange or lemon peel, optional

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, sugar, salt, eggs, butter, vanilla, and zest to form dough.
  2. Roll into ropes and cut into small pieces.
  3. Fry at 350°F until golden.
  4. Warm honey and toss fried dough pieces to coat.
  5. Shape into mound and decorate with sprinkles.
