Description

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup granulated sugar for coating

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a heavy pot to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Roll dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut into donut shapes.
  6. Fry donuts in small batches for 1 to 2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  7. Remove from oil, drain briefly, and roll in granulated sugar while warm.
  8. Serve fresh.
